Transformer

Transformer: It is the main equipment of the substation, and it is a static electrical equipment that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another circuit. The transfer of electrical energy is achieved by changing the voltage, that is, a voltage level of AC energy is converted into AC power at another voltage level。

Basic principles of transformers

The working principle of the transformer is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The transformer has two sets of coils. Primary coil and secondary coil. The secondary coil is outside the primary coil. When alternating current is applied to the primary coil, the transformer core generates an alternating magnetic field, and the secondary coil generates an induced electromotive force. The turns ratio of the transformer coil is equal to the voltage ratio.

The primary coil is 500 turns, the secondary coil is 250 turns, the primary voltage is 220V AC, and the secondary voltage is 110V. The transformer can step down and step up. If the primary coil has fewer turns than the secondary coil, it is a step-up transformer, which can raise the low voltage to a high voltage.
